Social Work Supervision
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Council Approved Supervisor in good standing with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. With over 30 years of experience in social work, I hold both a Bachelor and Master of Social Work. Before opening my private practice, I worked in community mental health, healthcare, and public education.
My supervision style involves empowering you to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for our field while offering support and encouragement. My priority is ensuring that you feel confident and competent in your work.
Please feel free to contact me for a free 30-minute consultation to determine if we are a good match.
The supervision requirements in the field include completing a minimum of 3000 hours of work experience and 100 hours of supervision spread out over a minimum of 24 months – between 2 to 4 hours per month. Clinical LCSW requires at least four hours per week offering clinical social work services, including assessing, diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
Play Therapy Supervision
As a registered play therapist since 2006, I offer a developmentally appropriate approach to providing mental health services for children. Those seeking Play Therapy certification must possess a graduate mental health degree and be a licensed clinical mental health professional or certified school professional such as a school counselor, psychologist, or social worker. As someone who has been certified through The Association for Play Therapy (APT), I can provide supervision for those seeking the following credentials: Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT) and School Based-Registered Play Therapist™ (SB-RPT).
If you are interested in seeking certification, there are specific requirements for Play Therapy supervision. RPT requirements are completed in three phases over two (2) to ten (10) years, including:
- 150 hours of play therapy instruction
- 350 hours of play therapy experience
- 35 hours of supervision with a max of 15 group hours and 20 individual hours (basically, 1 hour of supervision for every 10 hours of play therapy experience)
- five observations
