Understanding My Feelings Chart

This useful chart helps you rank your feelings from 1-5 with 5 being the most difficult feelings to cope with.  It helps you clarify how you look; what the feeling feels like in your body and develop a plan for what works for you.   Use it just for your own self awareness or with parents or teachers-that way others know how they can be helpful.

Take a Mental Health Screening

Mental Health America offers numerous free screenings so you can better understand if you or a loved one is suffering from a mental health condition. You can view your score, receive helpful information and resources.

Vroom

Connecting with your children through simple play activities not only enhances your child’s brain development it builds healthy attachment. Vroom offers a free research based app that will send you quick and simple activities for both you and your child to enjoy.

Collab Lab (Houston area only)

The curriculum is a year-long program divided into five parts that correspond to the five general attributes. The curriculum primarily addresses social-emotional development while also bolstering positive child outcomes in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We use a learning program that concentrates on:

  • Regulating reactions to emotions like frustration or excitement
  • Calming down after something exciting or upsetting
  • Focusing on a task
  • Refocusing attention on a new task
  • Controlling impulses
  • Learning behavior that helps children get along with others

Developmental Milestones

Understanding your child’s development is key to decreasing parent anxiety about what is normal and not normal based on the child’s age and developmental level. Remember if your child was premature or had adverse experiences their developmental age may not match their chronological age. The CDC offers a free app where you can track your child’s growth on your smartphone or tablet
